TODAY'S FORECAST SUMMARY

Mild, Breezy Start - Cloudy, Some Outbreaks Of Rain

WEDNESDAY 22ND FEBRUARY UPDATE @ 06:30:-

Another mild start across the forecast area. Looks set to be a mainly cloudy morning with some outbreaks of rain,as a front tends to 'wave' across the forecast area. The waving front may move far enough South briefly through the afternoon to allow some brighter spells to the North of the forecast area, before the front moves back North across the area towards/into the evening bringing a more persistent spell of rain across the forecast area. Temperatures on the mild side again, but probably not moving much from overnight values, peaking at 11°C or 12°C, before falling a couple degrees in any brighter spells to the North as the front briefly travels South of the area.

WIND:

Breezy through the morning with gust potential 20mph+, decreasing through the afternoon and generally from the WSW, perhaps veering WNW for a time, before backing W/WSW again

EVENING & OVERNIGHT:

Another mild night. Increasingly cloudy through the evening with some outbreaks of rain gradually making it's way across the forecast area by late evening. Rain continues into the early hours with some persistent rain in places for a time, before clearing away NE before dawn. Temperatures perhaps falling to 7°C or 8°C for a time in places

WIND:

Now to the talk in the UK Meteorology world at the moment, but the potential event doesn't actually happen until through Thursday daytime, so through tonight you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. Light winds at first through the evening, but begin to increase gradually through the early hours to have gust potential 20mph+ by dawn.

*UV and Pollen Forecasts Will Return In 2017

OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY

A breezy, mild start across the forecast area. Perhaps some further showery rain for a time at first through the morning and maybe a more persistent spell later through the morning, before clearing away East into/through the afternoon. Temperatures at their highest through the first part of the morning, peaking at 10°C or 11°, before falling away steadily through the remainder of the day to around 5°C by 17hr.

WIND: * POTENTIAL DISRUPTIVE GUSTS THROUGH THURSDAY *

A breezy start, and the wind increases through the morning with gust potential 35mph+, but this increases further late morning into the afternoon with gust potential 45mph+ across the forecast area. The current indications are that the strongest gusts can be expected between midday and 16hr. Some gusts in excess of 50mph in exposed areas are likely. Although the strongest gusts over a relatively short timeframe, they are likely to be cause damage in places and some trees possibly being uprooted. Initially from the SW, veering WNW through the day.
