Peterborough Weather Watch - The website of choice for up to date local weather conditions

STATION DETAILS

The weather data that appears on this website is collected via an Oregon Scientific WMR928 wireless weather station. The temperature/humidity sensor is housed in a home made 'Stevenson' Screen, therefore readings are reasonably representative of actual air temperature. I have my concerns as to the accuracy of the humidity readings, particularly at night. The siting of my anemometer causes me some angst. I need to raise it a further 6ft at least to enable full exposure to wind from the South to West quadrant, therefore my readings from this direction will be very much reduced and not indicative of true readings. I could add an offset to the readings, but I'd rather record what is actually measured than a manufactured figure.

The observations from October 2005 to August 2007 were from Stanground, SE Peterborough. Observations from there on are from Bretton, West Peterborough. Because both areas are in close proximity to each other I have decided to continue the observed data as if from the same site. Although this is not ideal, the climate is very similar and any variation would be very negligible. Historical reports will be clear as to location(s) where the data was recorded.

The software I use to collate all the data is called Weather Display (WD). The software allows me to present the data using pre-determined formats or using custom designs, as I do on this website. The Weather Display Live (WDL) page is powered by software developed by Julian Best and uses data fed by WD.The excellent Weather Display software was developed by Brian Hamilton and the support given by the author, which is second to none, is via a dedicated forum.
